Your battery operated flash pot is shipped directly from our facility to your front door, realizing great savings for you, our valued customer. No middle men, area reps or retail overhead result in a high performance flash pot for less than half of what you would normally expect to pay.
The battery operated flash pot presents some safety concerns. Once the battery is installed, it always has the potential to be 'live', so it should be handled professionally and with care.
First, you will want to prepare your electric match. Do so by sliding the protective plastic sleeve down the length of the match, away from the head. You will also remove the black plastic ends to the wire. They have already been cut, so they will slide right off. Seperate the two wires as shown in the picture by pulling them apart.
One wire from the match goes under the black terminal, and the other wire goes under the red terminal. Open the terminal by pressing down on the lever, as shown. Polarity does not matter, so either wire can go under either terminal without affecting the performance of the flash pot. Keep your face away from the pot as you do this, in case the pot is accidentally activated and the ignitor throws a spark.
To change the battery, loosen the two screws as shown with a phillips screwdriver. You do not have to remove the screws, just loosen them a few turns and the lid of the flash pot will slide out towards the side, then lift off.
Our flash pot already comes with a battery installed, but we do not advertise this fact, as the battery may need replacing soon after you get it. To replace, simply install a 9 volt battery as shown. The battery is held in place by a metal clip, and attaches to an easy, snap-on connector.
The foot pedal has a metal safety pin that pulls out of the side. To remove the safety pin, grasp in your hand and pull while twisting back and forth. Once the safety pin is out, then the pot can easily be activated by depressing the pedal. Be sure the pedal is in a place where no one can accidentally step on it. If you think someone might accidentally activate it, replace the safety pin until such a time that it is safe to remove it again. DO NOT rely on the safety pin, even when installed. If someone or something stomps the pedal hard enough, it can bend the pin and activate the pot. The pin should be checked for wear and tear periodically. ALWAYS assume that the pot can be activated by stepping on the pedal, even with the safety pin installed.
The last step is to add your flash paper and flash powder. Add your mixed flash powder, placing a small 3" x 5" piece of flash paper either over or under the flash powder (available in 20 sheet pads. Do so at a safe distance, keeping an arms length between you and the powder, in case the pot is accidentally triggered. DO not put any part of your body over the flash pot after it is loaded. Do not add powder until right before your performance. If the pyro shoot is cancelled for any reason, remove the powder BEFORE removing any other part of your flash pot set up. If you pick up the foot pedal and accidentally drop it, than the flash pot could ignite.
Good Luck and Safe Trails!
